Our Impact
Mangroves are unique coastal forests composed of salt-tolerant tree species that grow in intertidal zones where land meets sea. Along the coasts of Kenya and Tanzania, mangrove forests are vital for local livelihoods, biodiversity, and climate resilience.
We are restoring several mangrove species, including grey mangroves and large-leafed orange mangroves. Mangrove forests are highly effective carbon sinks, storing large amounts of carbon in both biomass and waterlogged soils.
